Today is the annual “Bike To The Ballpark” in Indianapolis. This awesome event celebrates the home opener for the Indianapolis Indians every year. The ride is a 1.7-mile journey through downtown Indianapolis. The ride starts at the South Parking lot of Sun King Brewery and ends at Victory Field. This event draws hundreds of biking enthusiasts from all over the city. It ends at the stadium to so that every ride participant can take place in the opening day festivities. The ride itself is free, but you do have to buy a ticket to the game to enter the stadium.
One of the best parts of the event in my opinion is when they have a special tapping of Sun King Brewery on site.
Last year, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, rode along with the bikers and made the trip to attend the opening day festivities in person. Once to the ballpark riders parked their bikes at racks set up across the street at the Convention Center. The Convention Center racks are directly across from Victory Field’s center field entrance at the corner of West and Maryland streets. Then, the riders that bought tickets entered the stadium and watched the Indians start a 3-game sweep of the Columbus Clippers.
