Basketball HoopYou may have noticed, but Indianapolis was invaded. Fans from Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State and Wisconsin took over downtown Indy for the Final Four. We loved seeing all of those fans come in from out of town. It gave new faces a chance to check out how awesome downtown Indianapolis is. Whether you were a fan of these teams, a fan of the game or just a guy with a busted bracket, Lucas Oil Stadium was the place to be last weekend.

When Duke and Michigan State tipped off Saturday at 6:09 pm, Michigan State came out HOT! The Spartans ran out to a 14-6 lead, but it was all downhill from there. Michigan State came in as one of the hottest teams in the tournament, coached by a legendary coach in Tom Izzo. The Spartans though were outmatched by Duke’s transition game, defense and athleticism. The Blue Devils coached by Coach K went on to win 81-61 to advance to the national championship game.

The night cap game was Kentucky vs. Wisconsin which tipped off at 8:49 pm. This game was an instant classic and might even be the game of the year. It was AWESOME. Back and forth, leads changing hands, with the two teams seemingly evenly matched. Kentucky, who were aiming for the first undefeated season since Indiana in 1976, were thwarted by the Badgers. Wisconsin won down the stretch by playing cool, confident basketball and letting their upperclassmen lead the way. Wisconsin closed the game on a 15-4 run, sealing the Wildcats’ fate and ending their undefeated season.

Now, we’re to the last two teams standing. Wisconsin and Duke should put on an all-time classic. Wisconsin is seeking to avenge their 80-70 loss to the Blue Devils back in December and to win their first national championship since 1941, and Duke is seeking their fifth title.
